Do you know you need help, but don’t know where to start?

Does your dog do any of the following behaviours?

  • Barking, lunging at other dogs and people
  • Resource/food guarding
  • Excessive barking
  • Destructive behaviours
  • Stealing items/objects
  • Act in a fearful, anxious or aggressive in any situation
  • Struggle with vet visits

My dog does one or more of the above behaviours, how can you help?

For all behaviour cases, I require an initial assessment. This involves a 30 minute Zoom consultation or phone call so we can briefly discuss the behaviours your dog is exhibiting and how to make my visit safe for everyone involved. At this stage, it is likely that I will require a veterinary referral form to be completed by your vet. Many behavioural problems have a medical component and I want to ensure that your dog is medically sound before you invest your time and money in behaviour modification. A team approach between trainers, behaviourists, vets, dog walkers, groomers and other animal professionals is the best way to help your dog.

Following our initial Zoom or phone chat, we will have an initial assessment which usually lasts around 2 hours and I will assess your dog’s behaviour. During this session we will discuss what problems you are experiencing and run through real life scenarios to ensure I have a thorough understanding of what is causing the behaviour.

This will likely be in-person at your home. Depending on what the problem is, we may also go for a short walk in your local area.

Once we get to the route of the problem, I can offer you some management strategies to prevent your dog practicing this undesirable behaviour. I will provide you with a written summary of our consultation as well as some simple steps to help you prevent the behaviour occurring.

In some situations, management will be enough to resolve the issue completely, or to the satisfaction of the dogs family. In others further training and behaviour modification is required.
